Is Clear Lake Open to Fishing?

Clear Lake is one of the largest natural lakes in the state of California. Located in Lake County, it is an incredibly popular spot for fishing, swimming, sailing and other recreational activities. It is open for both recreational and commercial fishing, but with some restrictions.

The lake has a wide variety of fish species including largemouth bass, rainbow trout, crappie, catfish and bluegill. During the summer months, the lake can become quite crowded with anglers looking to catch their limit.

In order to fish at Clear Lake, you must have a valid California Fishing License. You can purchase one online or at any local sporting goods store or bait shop. Additionally, you must abide by all fishing regulations set forth by the Department of Fish and Wildlife.

The lake is also subject to certain seasonal closures during certain times of the year. For example, during the spawning season from April 1 through June 15 no fishing is allowed in certain areas of the lake. Additionally, largemouth bass tournaments are prohibited from June 16 through September 30.

Is Clear Lake open to fishing? Yes it is! As long as you have a valid California Fishing License and follow all regulations set forth by the Department of Fish and Wildlife, you can enjoy wonderful days out on Clear Lake fishing for your favorite species.
