Castaic Lake, located in Los Angeles County, CA is a popular recreation area that offers a variety of outdoor activities for visitors. The lake was created in 1975 when the California Department of Water Resources and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers constructed the Castaic Dam across Piru Creek. It is the second largest man-made lake in California with over 11,000 acres of water surface, and is also one of the few remaining large warmwater fisheries in Southern California.
