How Did Alex Pullin Died Spearfishing?

Alex Pullin, a two-time world champion snowboarder, passed away tragically while spearfishing off the coast of Australia on July 8th, 2020. He was 32 years old.

Pullin was an Australian native and had been competing in snowboarding since he was 16 years old. He had become a well-known name in the sport, having won gold medals at the 2011 and 2013 World Championships in slalom snowboarding. On July 8th, Pullin went out for a day of spearfishing near Palm Beach in Queensland, Australia. Unfortunately, tragedy struck when he failed to resurface after diving down to try and catch a fish. His body was recovered by emergency responders shortly thereafter.

Initial reports indicate that Pullin may have suffered from a shallow water blackout, which is when divers experience a sudden loss of consciousness due to oxygen deprivation caused by prolonged breath-holding while underwater. This can happen even if the diver is an experienced swimmer or diver and has done everything right while diving down.

The exact cause of death is still unknown as authorities investigate further into Pullin’s death. In the meantime, the snowboarding community around the world has come together to mourn his passing and celebrate his life and accomplishments as one of their own.
