Do You Need a Fishing License to Fish at Lake Ray Hubbard?

The answer is β€œyes”, you do need a valid Texas fishing license to fish at Lake Ray Hubbard. If you are 17 years old or younger, you do not need a license. However, all other anglers must have a valid Texas fishing license to legally fish in this lake.

Lake Ray Hubbard is one of the most popular lakes in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and offers an abundance of fresh water species for sport fishing. The lake is stocked with largemouth bass, white bass, hybrid striped bass, channel catfish, blue catfish and sunfish. Anglers can also find crappie and flathead catfish in the lake as well.

The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) provides two types of freshwater fishing licenses: an Annual Public Fishing License (APFL) and a One-Day Fishing License (ODFL).

The APFL allows anglers to fish anywhere in Texas for an entire year; however, it does not include trout or saltwater fishing privileges. A ODFL allows anglers to fish for one day only but includes trout and saltwater privileges.

In addition to the required licenses, all anglers must also abide by daily bag limits which are set by TPWD for each species of fish found in Lake Ray Hubbard. For example, the daily bag limit for largemouth bass is five per day with only one being over 21 inches long. It is important to follow these regulations as failure to do so can result in fines or other penalties from TPWD.

For those who would like to enjoy some quality time out on Lake Ray Hubbard without worrying about obtaining a valid fishing license can participate in the Free Fishing Day event that TPWD offers once a year on June 5th 2021. On this day everyone can enjoy a day of free recreational fishing at no cost.

Conclusion:
In conclusion, it is important for anglers who wish to fish at Lake Ray Hubbard that they obtain either an Annual Public Fishing License or One-Day Fishing License from TPWD before they start their day on the lake. It also important that they follow all regulations set by TPWD as failure to do so may result in fines or other penalties from TPWD. Those who would like to enjoy some recreational fishing without having to worry about obtaining a license can participate in Free Fishing Day on June 5th 2021 when no license is required.
